Babu alleged that once he shifted to Vijay's house, he was ill-treated, placed in solitary confinement and not allowed to see his relatives and friends. "I was beaten up and made to endure other forms of physical torture as well. What is unbearable is that my own son put me through all of this. Even when I was sick, he refused to take care of me," Babu said.
The septuagenarian alleged that his son had also taken property documents and other valuable goods from him, which he had not returned. Babu explained that a 24-gram gold ring, 57-gram gold chain with a holy cross, fixed deposit certificates, cheque books, house documents and his will (written for his grandchildren) were all taken by his son.
Babu said that all this had led to his illness (he had a urinary problem) aggravating. He was finally admitted to a private hospital. After paying the hospital bills, Babu returned to his elder son Shaj in Pallavaram. He filed a complaint against Vijay at the Thirumullaivoyal police station in January. He had asked police officers there to help him recover the items that his son had stolen' from him and also to take action against him for causing physical injury.
When police response was not forthcoming, Babu approached S R Jangid, commissioner of police (Chennai suburbs). Jangid has forwarded the complaint to the Pallavaram police.
